Meals on Wheels of Syracuse is having an Open House on Friday, August 21 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The Open House is an effort to showcase the non-profit program to the community and recruit new volunteers. Meals on Wheels of Syracuse will also be unveiling a fresh, new look for its program on Friday.

Meals on Wheels of Syracuse relies on nearly 40 volunteers each weekday to deliver an average of nearly 900 meals to homebound seniors. The Syracuse program served nearly 197,000 meals last year and will likely serve well over 200,000 meals this year.

Meals on Wheels of Syracuse has had a 13% increase in meal recipients in recent years and has been adding additional delivery routes. The Syracuse program has never had a waiting list for new meal recipients and hopes to keep it that way by recruiting new volunteers.

Meals on Wheels of Syracuse has been working hard to provide shorter routes, better directions, and new technology for its volunteers. The Syracuse program now offers call, text, and email reminders, along with Online Volunteer Scheduling.

Meals on Wheels of Syracuse is located at 300 Burt Street on the backside of the 12-story Almus Olver Towers building at the corner of Burt and Oakwood Ave. Free parking and entrance to the facility is located off of Oakwood Ave, south of Burt Street.
