A story which aired on News Radio 570 WSYR and 106.9 FM has prompted "a local business man" to donate money to Meals on Wheels of Syracuse. The generous donor asked to remain anonymous after contributing enough money to replace and install two air conditioners in our Food Service area.
As temperatures approached 90 degrees on Friday, employees and volunteers were facing extreme temperatures as they prepared and packaged nearly 1,300 meals for homebound seniors. Two aging AC units in our Food Service area failed as meals were being prepared before the long holiday weekend.
Our staff and volunteers appreciate the concern and generous donation. We anticipate preparing nearly 216,000 meals this year and look forward to having a cooler Food Service area.
